Microsoft Word compatibility

Both EasiWriter professional and TechWriter professional are capable of reading and writing Microsoft Word documents. Examples are shown below.

  • Version 4.08 and NCWriter support Word 6 & 7.
  • Version 4.10 onwards also support Word 8 as found in Office 97 & 98.

Reading MS Word

Just insert the DOS formatted disc containing the Word document and drag it onto EasiWriter/TechWriter on the icon bar.

Or drag an e-mail enclosure on to your hard disc and then on to EasiWriter/TechWriter on the icon bar.

EasiWriter/TechWriter will automatically determine which version of Word it is and convert it. If Image FS2 is present on the Icon bar graphics will be converted automatically. Note: PNGs do not require Image FS2.

Note: Some versions of Office 97 saved as RTF (Rich Text Format) when the user thought they were saving as Word. EasiWriter and TechWriter will read these too.

Anything executable (that may contain viruses) will be discarded.

Writing MS Word

Choose Word from the Save menu. If Image FS2 is present on the Icon bar graphics will be converted automatically. Note: PNGs do not require Image FS2. The document will be written in a format that can be read by Word 6, 7 & 8 (Office 97 & 98).
